THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit was in the Apostles

John 14:15-17 ASV
(15)  If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments.
(16)  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever,
(17)  even the Spirit of truth: whom the world cannot receive; for it beholdeth him not, neither knoweth him: ye know him; for he abideth with you, and shall be in you.

Jesus manifests Himself only to those who keeps His commandments as a token of their love for Jesus

John 14:18-21 ASV
(18)  I will not leave you desolate: I come unto you.
(19)  Yet a little while, and the world beholdeth me no more; but ye behold me: because I live, ye shall live also. (20)  In that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. (21)  He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself unto him.

The Spirit witnesses of Jesus. If we witness even God the Father, it means that the Spirit is not in us because we ignore John 3:16.

John 15:26-27 ASV
(26)  But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall bear witness of me:
(27)  and ye also bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

The Comforter reminds us of the words of Jesus.

John 16:4-6 ASV
(4)  But these things have I spoken unto you, that when their hour is come, ye may remember them, how that I told you. And these things I said not unto you from the beginning, because I was with you.
(5)  But now I go unto him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
(6)  But because I have spoken these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

The spirit convicts of sin from unbelief, of righteousness, and of judgement

John 16:7-11 ASV
(7)  Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I go, I will send him unto you. (8)  And he, when he is come, will convict the world in respect of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: (9)  of sin, because they believe not on me; (10)  of righteousness, because I go to the Father, and ye behold me no more; (11)  of judgment, because the prince of this world hath been judged.

 The Spirit shall guide us into all the truth NOT PARTIAL truth

John 16:12-15 ASV
(12)  I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. (13)  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but what things soever he shall hear, these shall he speak: and he shall declare unto you the things that are to come. (14)  He shall glorify me: for he shall take of mine, and shall declare it unto you. (15)  All things whatsoever the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he taketh of mine, and shall declare it unto you.

Are you born of the Holy Spirit? It is another requirement for salvation.

John 3:5-8 ASV
(5) Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
(6) That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
(7) Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born anew.
(8) The wind bloweth where it will, and thou hearest the voice thereof, but knowest not whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
